Today Altavista is part of Yahoo Inc. and after few years they marge their translation service with Microsoft. Bing Translator is good, but with very few languages supported. Technology is by Babelfish core, but the languages are only 35. Unline Google, they support API for free with 1000 characters limitation. We all know that Google make their API paid last year.
